Minimum salary: 43656.00

Maximum salary: 53352.00

Salary: $1,819 – $2,223 semi-monthly *Salary may be commensurate of education and/or experience

Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Division of Environmental Quality, Southwest Regional Office, and will be located at 2040 W. Woodland, Springfield, MO 65807.

The Department of Natural Resources protects our natural resources, which includes ensuring the residents of Missouri have safe drinking water. You will visit a number of systems in the Southwest region providing guidance, and conduct inspections and investigations at regulated public water systems. You will also interact with others in the office to obtain an understanding of all the activities the Department performs. You will work both independently and with a group.

What you will do:

  • Conduct inspections at public water systems to ensure compliance with the Missouri Safe Drinking Water Law and Regulations.
  • Provide compliance assistance via field visits or via phone to increase compliance from new and existing public water systems.
  • Investigate concerns of potential and existing environmental health and safety problems and issues concerning the quality of drinking water.
  • Conduct Level 2 Assessment field visits when the need is triggered by the public water system. Try to determine a potential cause, if any, to the bacteriological positive samples.
  • Conduct repeat sampling for E. coli routine positive samples.
  • Work with the Drinking Water Section to ensure the Section goals are met.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science with at least 30 hours of natural or applied science courses (i.e. biology, chemistry, earth science, environmental science, agriculture, etc.)
  • A valid Missouri State Driver’s license
  • Computer skills, Word, Excel, Access, and ability to navigate on-line forms

  • Detail orientated
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to periodically travel with overnight stays
