About the Role:

The Senior GIS Analyst – Geospatial Operations provides specialist geospatial information support to DEW business units and external clients using a range of GIS technologies including desktop, portal, mobile and web-based solutions. This is achieved through liaising with staff and clients to capture and interpret business requirements, providing specialist advice on geospatial solutions, operational standards and procedures, and developing and supporting a range of geospatial products and web based solutions to meet departmental program objectives.

The Senior GIS Analyst – Geospatial Operations is responsible for ensuring:

  • Specialist advice on geospatial solutions, operational standards and procedures is provided to DEW / Landscape SA business units and external collaborators to support departmental and SA Government objectives.
  • The department’s geospatial requirements are represented at the state government level through participating in relevant Location SA technical working groups.
  • Business requirements are captured for a range of geospatial data, services and products through liaising with appropriate DEW / Landscape SA staff and external collaborators.
  • Configurable geospatial solutions are deployed to assist DEW / Landscape SA staff meet departmental program objectives.
  • Authoritative data and services are developed based on information management principles and repeatable, automated procedures.
  • Project support, documentation and reporting on the application of geospatial solutions or procedures is provided to help DEW / Landscape SA staff achieve project outcomes.
  • DEW / Landscape SA staff receive technical supervision, guidance and informal training in the use of departmental geospatial information, standards and systems.

Contract: 
Ongoing Contract

Essential Qualifications:
A tertiary qualification in spatial science, natural resource/water resource management is desirable.

Special Conditions:

  • May be required to participate in fire management or associated duties. This may involve supporting geospatial systems used during emergency incidents.
  • A current class “C” driver’s licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential.
  • May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel and work outside of the normal hours of work.
  • This role has been designated as a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework. By applying for this role you consent to being screened under the process of obtaining a National Police Clearance (NPC), and to the Department requiring you to obtain an NPC.

Remuneration: 
ASO5  $83,273 min – $92,614 max p.a.
