We are seeking a Framework Director / Commission Lead to lead a large team within Water supporting our global key client Thames Water and Thames Tideway.  The range of services offered are truly multidisciplinary and include Programme and Project Management, Commercial Management, Asset Management and extensive Design and Engineering support.  Working closely with the Business Director, Engineering Director, Account Leads and Service Leads you will become a recognised leader within the water community, comfortable in leading large projects, programmes and frameworks and making significant contributions to shaping how we work with our global key clients.  The role will be senior, and candidates could sit within any service line or professional discipline.  You will head a diverse team of Senior Leaders with accountability across our key service lines of PPS, CCM, D&E and Asset Management.  There will be a balance between billable time and non-billable time to lead and develop the account.  Billable time will ideally be associated with Thames Water – we will support to find those opportunities.

You will:

  • Provide professional leadership in all aspects of provision of Arcadis service lines at client level

  • Be able to spend time with our clients and teams in the South East region to continue to build confidence, a high-performing team ethic and strong relationships to harness future opportunities
  • Be capable of leading multi-disciplinary projects that draw on an international team
  • Report to the Business Director responsible for our Regulated Water portfolio

Role accountabilities:

Duties will include amongst other things:

  • Leading by example to promote continual improvement in SHE performance across the business
  • Be accountable for delivering strong engagement scores for our people across the team
  • Be a visible champion for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion across the business
  • Day to day leadership of the Arcadis CX programme to ensure that we are continually focused on strong performance, building a feedback rich environment, and adapting our plans to ensure strong CX feedback and recognition
  • Building relationships with clients, both personally and through your team, to identify and realise business opportunities and to ensure that client expectations and Arcadis’ commercial objectives are met or exceeded
  • Leading client related strategic pursuits on an as required basis
  • Providing technical/major project leadership at a subject level
  • Taking line management responsibility for the development and performance management of a diverse team of Senior Leaders
  • Coaching and mentoring technical professionals to support the development of Arcadis’ talent pool
  • As Framework Director, providing leadership of the commercial aspects the framework (contract, invoicing, debt, client management) and driving project performance service delivery and technical and commercial outcomes.
  • Shaping teams, leading the acquisition, deployment and management of resources for projects and frameworks to ensure optimal resource allocation.
  • Establishing the Talent Acquisition Strategy and working closely with TA and the wider Regulated Water team to recruit high quality external candidates to support client requirements and our strategic or growth targets
  • Identifying any pockets of low performance, managing this through instigating transformation plans.
  • Through an effective review process, overseeing the delivery of projects to time, meeting both quality and budgetary targets, whilst striving to exceed client expectations
  • Performing independent technical and performance reviews for complex and/or major projects/frameworks (subject to experience and specific discipline)
  • Encouraging innovative and entrepreneurial thinking amongst team members
  • Working with Service Leaders to develop joint plans and approaches to embed the global transformation approach and harness the benefits of this for our team and our clients
  • Working with GEC champions to maximise GEC led input on projects/frameworks
  • Become a key leader in the Water team, shaping our strategy, culture and impact

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Have a BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Achieved Chartered professional status, or equivalent
  • Previous relevant experience including demonstrable project or framework leadership within a Consultancy or Contractor context
  • Familiarity with and experience of using common forms of contract (as a minimum NEC)
  • People – ability to understand and work across cultures to drive and embed change
  • Strong stakeholder and client management skills
  • Previous relevant experience of bidding and work winning
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Have strong existing relationships throughout the industry and with peers, establishing networks accordingly.
  • Leading and embedding transformation – passion and drive to bring people on a journey
