Who we are
The Department of Ecoscience (https://ecos.au.dk/en/) is organised under the Faculty of Technical Sciences and studies biology and ecology in all respects. We teach, provide consultancy, regulatory advice and research in biological aspects from bacteria to whales over genes to ecosystems and from basic research to applied biology in nature management and biotechnology. The department is strongly engaged in several Arctic monitoring programs, especially the Greenland Ecosystem Monitoring (GEM), which are central to the research and advisory activities in the department. The Department has approximately 275 staff members, just over 100 working in Roskilde, and nearly 175 in Aarhus.

What we offer
We have a unique research environment at the highest international level within aquatic freshwater biology and ecology, which covers streams, lakes, ponds and surrounding rural areas (catchments) that direct water to the freshwater areas – including both natural and constructed wetlands. An important element of the research is the unique long time series retrieved through field studies and from the department’s test facilities in Lemming with constructed mini-ecosystems in which pelagic abiotic and biotic dynamics can be studied under controlled and manipulated conditions. In addition, we focus on developing and using empirical and dynamic modelling tools to calculate, among other things, the leaching of nitrogen and phosphorus from fields and the transportation to streams and further on to the marine environment.

Place of work and area of employment
The place of employment is the Department of Ecoscience, which is located in at Aarhus University, C.F. Møllers Alle 4-8, 8000 Aarhus C).
