We are currently looking for an energetic, communicative and well organised programme officer/facilitator to support the development and delivery of training programmes with a focus on multilevel water governance and climate resilience.

We are a dynamic international training institute that aims to strengthen local democracy worldwide by organising training and knowledge exchange activities, both in The Netherlands and abroad. We support inclusive and participatory local governance processes in a wide variety of themes such as water management, economic development and peacebuilding. Our participants work for national and local governments and civil society organisations, as well as for development partners such as UNDP, GIZ and international NGOs.

About the job

As Programme Officer / Facilitator at The Hague Academy, you have three core tasks: 

1. Supporting the development and implementation of training courses

  • Providing logistical support to the programme managers in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of the training courses.
  • Developing training materials.
  • Communicating with and providing information to course participants about logistics matters.
  • Preparing and facilitating sessions and/or field visits.

2. Supporting the acquisition of new assignments

  • Identifying opportunities for new training assignments and answering requests from potential clients;
  • Collecting and preparing relevant information such as CVs, reference documents, etc. for training proposals.
  • Supporting the drafting of project proposals.

3. Organisational development

  • Contribute to general organisational development tasks or working groups, in line with our multi-annual strategy.

About you

  • Master’s degree, preferably in the area of water (governance) and/or climate resilience.
  • 1 to 3 years of work experience, preferably in the field of water management and/or climate resilience. 
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English. A good command of Dutch and/or Arabic is an advantage.
  • Flexible and pro-active working attitude. Capable of working independently and under time pressure, with a drive to deliver high quality results.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • Strong intercultural sensitivity.
  • Able to contribute constructively and positively when working as part of a team.

About our offer

  • Salary between € 2.711,- and € 3.604,-, depending on experience.
  • End of year allowance of 4.6%.
  • 23 vacation days and 15 days ‘adv’-days (for reduction of working time).

Important information

  • The position is based in The Hague, The Netherlands. In order to be considered as a candidate for this role you need to be a resident of the European Union or have a valid permit to work in The Netherlands.
