About the Economic and Social Infrastructure Program (ESIP)
ESIP is a development assistance program supported by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and implemented by DT Global. Under strategic direction from DFAT officials at the Australian High Commission in PNG, ESIP is delivering a range of activities and policy initiatives in the energy, telecommunications and water sectors. ESIP is also supporting PNG’s state-owned enterprise performance improvement program and delivering social infrastructure planning, design and construction services.

The Role
The Hydro Power Specialist (HPS) will directly support the Deputy Director Energy Sector in the Economic Infrastructure Unit (EIU) and Senior Project Managers with high-level specialist technical inputs in overseeing the delivery of a range of on-grid renewable hydro energy projects in PNG. In addition, the role will provide technical advice for ESIP off-grid program, Pawarim Komuniti where any grant proposals including a hydropower solution.

About You
Key selection criteria for the potential successful candidate include, but are not limited to:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline
- A minimum of 10 years of practical experience dealing with a range of key engineering aspects of hydropower systems in generation and transmission, design and contraction of hydropower plants and monitoring and control systems
- Ability to deal with high-level situation analysis, site condition assessment and high-level report writing for multiple stakeholder hierarchies
- Knowledge and/or experience of applying GEDSI and safeguards principles.
