The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of two years.
This is a full-time position with the possibility of a part-time contract upon request.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 14 TV-L.
Unser Profil
The Institute of Environmental Engineering (ISA) at RWTH Aachen University, with approximately 50 employees, has been conducting basic and applied research in the service of environmental and water protection on a national and international level since 1966. The ISA has a state-of-the-art environmental analytical and a technical laboratory located at the Aachen-Soers wastewater treatment plant. The Institute’s thematic areas are represented by six research groups. The research group âParticulate Contaminantsâ focuses on the sources, pathways and receptors of particulate contaminants, such as microplastics, in the field of urban drainage and wastewater treatment.
Ihr Profil
You have a completed doctorate in engineering or natural sciences, which ideally has already dealt with a topic of contamination within water management. Ideally, you have initial experience in the development and implementation of research, innovation or practical projects.
You have an extraordinary interest in topics of particulate contaminants in the context of urban drainage and wastewater treatment and thus related skills to lead the particulate contaminants research group and to coordinate the associated projects in a target-oriented and directive approach. In addition to project management, the leadership of the research group also includes the co-supervision of doctoral students.
You enjoy working with students, support different lectures and supervise student theses.
Accordingly, independent work, very good communication skills and organisational talent are a necessary requirement.
A fluent command of written and spoken German and a very good knowledge of English are also required.

– Head of Particulate Contaminants Research Group
– Coordination and management of various national and international research projects
– Project implementation including design of test facilities, scientific test evaluations and preparation of reports
– Preparation of research proposals for various funding bodies
– Organisation and supervision of courses in the field of urban water and water quality management
– Supervision of final theses and student research projects carried out at the Institute
