Local recruitment: Communications Intern – Long Island Sound Study

NEIWPCC

Stamford, CT, USA 🇺🇸

NEIWPCC and the Long Island Sound Study (LISS) are seeking a Communications Intern to provide writing and publishing assistance during the summer of 2023.

The intern’s work will be heavily geared towards implementing LISS Communications, Outreach and Engagement (COE) Plan. The intern will write articles and feature projects on LISS’s various online communications channels, assist with the Living Shoreline Projects interactive map and webpages, perform web updates, support the development of public engagement content, assist with photography and videography initiatives, and provide additional programmatic communications support. The intern will be based in Stamford, CT and will participate in occasional site visits to conduct research and capture photo and video.

The successful candidate will be a skilled writer who is excited about communicating how science and management can help sustain and protect an urban waterway from emerging threats. The candidate will be able to work independently and as a team. The ability to shoot and edit photos and videos is desired – a camera would be provided but the intern would need access to their own photo and video editing software. Candidates with alternative qualifications or who have taken a less traditional career path may be considered if an aptitude for success and a strong willingness to learn is clearly apparent.

This seasonal position is based in the EPA Long Island Sound Office, Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Boulevard, Stamford, CT 06904. Duties will be performed largely in an office setting, but with a need for travel, for which a valid driver’s license and private means of transportation is required. Access to a laptop and reliable internet access is required. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required.
