Experienced Researcher Geohydrology

KWR Water Research Institute

Netherlands 🇳🇱

Due to growing activities within the team and KWR regarding soil energy, underground water storage, freshwater supply and large-scale research and innovation programs, there is a short-term need for an experienced researcher Geohydrolgy who, based on the content and enthusiasm, contributes to our projects and also has his own substantive focus.

About KWR

Safe and clean drinking water is a great asset. KWR is an internationally renowned research institute in the field of water quality, the water cycle and sustainable development.  ‘Bridging science to practice’  is our mission.

From our fully sustainable building with state-of-the-art laboratories, our approximately 200 employees from two knowledge groups work on innovative projects in the Netherlands and, increasingly, in and outside Europe. The ten Dutch drinking water companies and the Belgian ‘De Watergroep’ are our shareholders.

Our researchers work at the intersection of science, business and society. Their strength lies in the translation if scientific knowledge into applicable practical solutions for end users in the Dutch and international water sector. To support the research, KWR has specialized laboratories, a test hall and test installations are built under its own management. In addition, company-specific software is developed for use within projects.

Your profile

Together with experts, you manage various research projects, from translating client request into a suitable quotation, to evaluating the outcomes of the project with the client and project members. You have a solid professional basis in the broad geohydrological knowledge field. You have already developer yourself or you want to develop further into a stimulating leader where you provide guidance to people (experts/researchers) and projects (initiating, shaping, structuring) from the (technical-scientific) content.

Are you curious by nature? Are you intrinsically driven to contribute to a sustainable society? Do you mainly see opportunities instead of obstacles and do you want to develop yourself? Then we would like to get to know you!

You also have/are:

  • A solid professional basis in the broad geohydrological knowledge field;
  • At least 5 years of experience as a researcher, preferably in a knowledge-driven environment;
  • Scientifically curious and driven;
  • Experience in generating new projects;
  • Good communication skills, you get energy from cooperation, you are customer-oriented and you are able to clearly share your knowledge in reports and presentations;
  • Driven to achieve results;
  • An excellent command of the Dutch and English language (spoken and written).

The team

Within the Geohydrology team, the focus is on using the (deeper) subsurface to contribute to social solutions for water, energy and food problems. At the dynamic intersection of research and practice, we want to work on a variety of research projects in the field of water and the subsurface. The 16 professionals have a very varied background and experience and conduct applied scientific science into, among other things, freshwater supply in salinizing deltas and desiccating areas, water reuse, protection and use of groundwater and soil energy. In addition, research into well management and well clogging is also important. There is a lot of intensive collaboration with colleagues from the Edohydrology team. The atmosphere within both teams is informal and strongly focused on collaboration and innovation.

Our offer for you

We attach great value to personal growth and career development and offer various opportunities for this, such as courses and skills training. A good work/life balance is our top priority. KWR has excellent primary and secondary employment conditions and is affiliated with the Collective Labor Agreement for Water Companies (Flexible Employment Conditions budget, ABP pension). In addition, working from home is part of the possibilities.

KWR employees carry out their practical work in a sustainable built glass building, designed for collaboration and knowledge sharing between teams and partners. With this position and our profile – a socially relevant organization where we work together and make an important contribution to connecting water science with practice – KWR offers a special working environment.

Do you want to take water science further and work with us on a sustainable society?
