Location: District Araria, Bihar

Position Purpose:
WADS Foundation is going to implement a project on “Promoting and Strengthening Safely Managed Sanitation Systems (SMSS) and Hand Hygiene for All (HH4A) Initiatives” in Bihar supported by an international development organization. The position will be based at the district level – Araria district of Bihar along with movement to other districts as per requirement. She/he will manage the project activities and coordinate with the block/district officials for realization of the project outcomes envisaged.

About the Position:
The position (1 nos.) will be based in Araria district of Bihar with frequent travel to Blocks and Gram Panchayats for project work and activities. She/he will have to coordinate with the Block and district level Lohiya Swachh Bihar Abhiyan (LSBA) teams and officials for implementation of project activities in the project “Promoting and Strengthening Safely Managed Sanitation Systems (SMSS) and Hand Hygiene for All (HH4A) Initiatives”. Since the project also envisages support to the ULBs, she/he will also support the implementation of SBM 2.0 (Urban) and provide the necessary assistance to the select ULBs in the district. Coordination with WADS team members in the project along with timely data collection & reporting will be part of the said position. She/he will also have to support the project activities in other districts as per need and request from the donor team members and office orders from LSBA.
The said position will be for a period of one year from the date of joining.
Desired Expectations/ Key Responsibilities:
• Work closely with Block Coordinators and other team members of the organization, counterparts to implement the project activities including development of roadmaps, work-plans, activities, reports, etc.
• Work closely with block/district/ULB level stakeholders for implementation of project activities as per agreed plan of action. Provide required technical assistance and support to team members of LSBA in the district.
• Establishment of innovative ecosystem for incubating and testing local solutions to promote healthy hygiene behaviors among communities.
Work with the community, PRI members, institutions, sanitation workers for the Promotion and Strengthening of Safely Managed Sanitation Systems (SMSS) and Hand Hygiene for All (HH4A) Initiatives
• Facilitate project activities including trainings, on-site demonstration, workshop planning, logistics planning and management to ensure smooth project implementation, etc.
• Support the Blocks Coordinators and other team members in generating demand for toilet construction, toilet retrofitting’s, campaigns, operation and maintenance related to safely managed sanitation systems and hand hygiene for all
• Develop documents like field reports, assessment reports, success stories, case studies etc. as per the program need and local context.
• Represent WADS Foundation at block/district level meetings involving government and development partners.
• Frequent travel to the Gram Panchayats, inter districts as per the project and organizational requirements. Travel to WADS Foundation offices or donor offices can happen as per the project requirement or meetings.
• Perform other activities, as assigned by the Team Leader to achieve organizational/project goals

Qualifications Required:
• Postgraduate from reputed university/college etc. with 5 years of relevant experience in the field of social development/social works
• Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in the areas of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
• Ability to work with diverse technical team
• Ability to multitask and work under multicultural environment
• Data compilation and Report writing
• Proficiency in computers – Microsoft Office
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively in rural areas
