UT Arlington’s Hydrology and Water Resource Laboratory is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to work on state and federally funded projects related to improving ensemble hydrologic predictions. The appointment will be for two years with potential of extension depending on funding availability and performance.    

Qualifications:  

  • A PhD degree in water resource engineering, meteorology, statistics, or a related field 
  • Experience in hydrologic model implementation, calibration, postprocessing  
  • Expertise in validating ensemble/probabilistic meteorological and hydrologic forecasts 
  • Proficient in at least two of the following programming languages: Fortran, Python, R, Java, C and NCL 
  • Must have working experience with tool application and development on Linux clusters
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated in peer-reviewed publications

Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain and enhance ensemble hydrometeorological and hydrologic forecast systems 
  • Develop prototype statistical forecast modules by applying techniques developed at UTA; perform integration tests and hindcast experiments 
  • Present results in peer-reviewed publications and in national conferences 
  • Engage partners and stakeholders through regular meetings
