Global Water Intelligence (GWI), the world’s leading intelligence service on the global water industry, is looking to hire an enthusiastic and resourceful Graduate Conference Producer to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to travel, to be creative and to network with some of the industry’s leading thinkers.

As a Graduate Conference Producer, you will work on events that reach every corner of the world and attract delegates at the highest level of their profession. GWI currently produces three annual events that each bring together 400-850 delegates: from highly technical presentations to inspirational panel discussions, our event sessions use a variety of formats to bring the best out of our speakers and to educate, entertain and deliver value to our audience.

We take pride in curating our unique global network and producing market leading insight, which enables us to deliver only the most highly relevant content and network of water sector influencers. Our goal is to expand our events offering and to deliver bigger and bolder conferences throughout the year.

The Graduate Conference Producer will be a key player in delivering this vision. In your role, you will construct discussions that have true influence within the water sector, whilst continuously learning about the innovative work being done to make the world of water work better.

You’ll join a highly cross-functional team of conference producers who are curious, organised and who thrive in a fast-paced environment. With comprehensive training from your team, you will develop a full picture of GWI’s business, have the opportunity to take responsibility for your own work and begin leading on projects, all within your first six months.

Your skillset

We do not expect any relevant experience, but we are looking for candidates with specific skills who have completed a university degree. We don’t expect these skills all in one person but if you think you might be good at two or three of them, we would like to hear from you:

  • Networking: If we are going to construct engaging conversations, we need confident and intelligent staff to draw ideas out of people and to ask them the right questions.
  • An eye for detail: Our business depends on our ability to provide outstanding experiences, and we can’t do that without considering all the details.
  • Seeing the bigger picture: All the details add up to business value. Having people on the front line who can understand and reach for the bigger goal is key.
  • Analysis: We want to grow our business, and that involves analysing our work to see the opportunity to do things better.
  • Managing projects: Most of what we do is a team effort, but getting great people to work well together is a skill in itself. We need people who are organised empathetic communicators to bring it all together.
  • Organised: With our largest event attracting over 850 people from around the world, we need to be organised. Keeping track of all the moving parts can be a challenge, but with clear communication and a composed attitude, the events team can bring it all together.
  • Commercial savvy: Our mission is to make the world of water work better, and our products and events help shape the direction of the water sector. We can only deliver on this mission if we ourselves are a successful company.

Additionally, it is important that you are a quick learner, have an inquisitive mind, are prepared to take ownership of what you do, and be resourceful and flexible in your approach to work.

Additional Information:

GWI employees are enrolled on a company pension plan and receive a holiday allowance of 25 days per year. All employees also receive an annual bonus based on the company’s profits, to reflect all the hard work we do together throughout the year.

Please note that this is not a logistics-based/operations role. Whilst we do not expect you to have prior knowledge of the water sector, we will expect you to dive into the world of water and learn about the people, the companies and the projects that drive business.

Applicant instructions:

Please submit a CV and a covering letter to recruitment@globalwaterintel.com explaining in fewer than 200 words why you are applying for the job and what you think you can contribute to us that would make a real difference.

The closing date for applications is 17 March 2023.

We will discard the applications which do not come with covering letters. We will then draw up a shortlist of the strongest candidates for the position to whom we will send a skills test. On the basis of this test, we will narrow the field down to applicants for interview.

We encourage you to apply early, as we may close the vacancy if we receive sufficient applications.

Please note that due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are unable to offer feedback on any applications not carried through to the interview stage.
