| Job Summary | The Auburn University Water Resources Center is seeking an Alabama Drought Outreach Specialist to expand educational resources and develop a collaborative approach for drought monitoring and reporting in Alabama. This position will be in collaboration with the Alabama Office of the State Climatologist at The University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES). This is a one-year limited-term position and is funded from external sources. Continuation of employment is contingent upon the availability of funds. The mission of the Auburn University Water Resources Center is to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration among Auburn University faculty and staff on water-related research, outreach, and instruction; conduct innovative research to find practical solutions for current and future water issues and empower private citizens to become active stewards of water resources. | Essential Functions | Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: -Plan, coordinate, deliver and manage drought impact Extension training and communications materials. -Develop a statewide Extension drought impact reporting platform. -Coordinate directly with the Alabama Office of the State Climatologist to provide drought impact data. -Maintain budget and financial records related to the drought program. -Assist with grant writing. -Perform other duties as assigned. |

Level II requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources, Climatology, Soils, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or field closely related to drought planning, plus 2 years of experience in the design, implementation, delivery, and management of educational programs/services related to water resources, climate science, or related. |

| Minimum Skills and Abilities | Excellent interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated technical excellence, and ability to work independently. Must be able to work outside in unfavorable conditions and periodically travel (sometimes overnight) to conduct training and visit partner meetings; Knowledge of drought planning and impacts (esp. agricultural impacts). |

Desired Qualifications
| Desired Qualifications | Master’s degree in the areas listed above or equivalent work experience (2-3 years). Experience with conducting outreach and/or professional training, especially drought-related content. Experience with webpage design and Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. |
