The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Financial Assistance has an opening for a Water Resource Control Engineer in the Groundwater Grant Program (GWGP). The position is headquartered at 1001 I Street in downtown Sacramento. GWGP team members currently work 1-2 days per month in the office, and tele-work from home for the remainder of the month. Although remote work requirements may change, the GWGP will follow a 90-95% telework schedule for the foreseeable future. The GWGP provides financial aid to projects that clean up contaminated groundwater – one facet of the State Water Board’s efforts to keep California’s water clean, affordable, and abundant. Duties: Under the close supervision of a Senior Engineering Geologist, the incumbent will provide financial assistance to projects that clean up contamination in groundwater and surface water. Duties may include: Reviewing and approving plans, specifications, reports, and other technical documents to ensure that projects remain on track. Reviewing and approving invoices to ensure that public funds are only used for their rightful purpose. Serving on advisory committees to guide projects toward methods that are effective yet cost-efficient. Traveling for site visits and conducting meetings with stakeholders.
