Job Description

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU) has a postdoctoral position available immediately for a two-year duration. The position is supported by the MU Research Excellence Postdoctoral Program, which provides competitive stipend and funds for professional development/travel. The postdoctoral scholar will conduct research in one of the following areas; (1) Environmental geochemistry related to management of metal mining wastes; (2). Fabrication and application of advanced nanofiltration and reverse osmosis membranes for desalination and water reuse; (3). Aquatic toxicity of contaminants of emerging concerns (CECs) such as microplastics and per- and polyfluroalkyl substances (PFAS); and (4). Innovative nanomaterials for removal of CECs from water.

Qualifications

PhD in Civil & Environmental Engineering, Geochemistry, Chemistry, or other STEM fields by the start of the appointment

Candidate will be evaluated on experience with advanced instrumentation such as in situ and operando transmission electron microscopy and isotope-ratio mass spectrometry.
