Your main tasks are to identify project opportunities, acquire projects, acquire work for third parties, prepare project proposals and carry out account management for a well-balanced project portfolio of the EOS Department. Our focus on new projects to be acquired is on third flow of funding /contract funding.

Besides these tasks, you engage and stimulate interest with Department staff on project opportunities, maintain external relations with key organisations and networks in the fields of interest of the Department and coordinate opportunities, challenges and strategic issues with colleagues in- and outside the Department.

You provide support in responding to calls for proposals, draft proposals and deal with Faculty and University procedures, you monitor the project portfolio and staff engagement and you monitor balanced commitment of staff and resources, you provide support in project management, and you share responsibility in the management of the department.

YOUR PROFILE

  • An MSc in the field of Geo-informatics or Earth Observation with relevance to spatial information acquisition problems
  • Knowledge of the field of expertise of the Department
  • Experience in project management
  • Networking skills, diplomatic and negotiation skills and to smoothly liaise with clients and colleagues
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language
  • Willing to undertake international travel

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Earth Observation Science (EOS) is engaged in education, research and capacity building on earth observation, image analysis and geo-health. The department develops and applies methods for the extraction of large scale geo-information from airborne and terrestrial sensors. It holds expertise in laser scanning technology, sensor integration, point cloud processing, scene understanding and 3D landscape and building modelling. The expertise of the department covers spatial statistics, image analysis, deep learning, monitoring and data integration. Geo-health relates the dynamics of diseases to the geo context. This is done by modelling the spread of diseases and their explanatory variables and includes the understanding of the emergence of diseases at various scales.

The Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) provides international postgraduate education, research and project services in the field of geo-information science and earth observation. Our mission is capacity development, where we apply, share and facilitate the effective use of geo-information and earth observation knowledge and tools for tackling global wicked problems.
