Normal Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm


Job Summary: Assists in research work in support of a major research project which may include duties such as gathering, tracking and entering data, preparing support material, etc.


Additional Department Summary: The Research Aide works with the Assistant Science Director of the Alabama Water Institute (AWI) and Enterprise Architect of the Cooperative Institute for Research to Operations in Hydrology (CIROH) to provide support and coordination of the CIROH-hosted participants in the AI and Data Analytics Bootcamp. Provides general research support to the CIROH cyberinfrastructure team on topics of low-complexity (FIM models, data engineering and dashboarding, AI/ML, geographic information systems, cyberinfrastructure development, etc.).


Required Minimum Qualifications: At least two (2) semesters of research support experience or a Bachelor’s degree. Student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student-oriented experience will be considered. To be considered student experience, it must be detailed in the employment section on the application.


Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work on a personal computer including Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to follow directions and perform laboratory tasks under direct supervision of a faculty mentor.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience with hydroinformatics, cyberinstructure, AI/ML, data engineering, Python, C, Google Earth Engine, course or lab instruction or other teaching, web development, server maintenance, dashboarding and data display, GitHub integration management, and remote sensing.
