Salary Range: $66,539.20 to $92,820 (Based on Professional Experience)

Summary

The Water Quality team is looking for a Management Professional who can understand complex drinking water regulations involved with water distribution systems, with special attention to distribution system lead and copper corrosion control. Has knowledge of principles and practices of water distribution system and engineering design, standard drinking water laboratory techniques and practices, drinking water regulations and regulatory compliance, and also familiar with water distribution operations, equipment, and systems (valves, appurtenances etc.). This individual will be responsible for planning, leading, organizing, controlling and executing various projects and tasks for a unit.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain best practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely deliverables
  • Work independently or with a team to achieve operational efficiencies
  • Develop and implement strategies to effectively maintain optimal water quality within a water distribution system
  • Actively engage with member communities about how to maintain distribution system water quality
  • Perform on-demand sampling in response to system events to address and resolve water quality issues
  • Perform on-demand seasonal variability, bacteriological, chemical, and physical sampling and record results
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, outside agencies and member utilities
  • Assist management with environmental regulatory reports and other correspondence 
  • Participate in the implementation of new initiatives, develop and execute long-term plans, identify risks and obstacles, and prepare and maintain data and reports 
  • Establish and meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, engineering or related science
  • Engineering and/or Field water distribution management experience preferred 
  • Two (2) years of experience in water distribution systems and/or their projects

Environmental Working Requirements

Work is performed at the plants or in a field environment. This position requires the ability to work in all conditions involving exposure to outside elements and seasonal weather. Work may be performed near open water and systems with hazardous chemicals that are acidic, highly corrosive, heat-producing, and potentially explosive. Work may be performed in confined spaces, hazardous areas that require respiratory protection and personal protective equipment (PPE), and under slippery and wet conditions.

Other Requirements

Valid Driver’s License

Ability to obtain a Michigan S-3 license with 2 years of hire
