Who we are…

The Yukon Water Secretariat fulfills a specialized function as it provides professional, technical, and administrative support to the Yukon Water Board which is an administrative tribunal operating at arms-length from government while making independent decisions on natural resource development and water management within the Yukon.  The Policy Analyst is the sole point of contact for the delivery of policy support to the Director, Yukon Water Board Secretariat and the Yukon Water Board under the Waters Act.

The opportunity…

This role provides an opportunity to take a prominent role in the research, analysis, and development of policy on behalf of the Yukon Water Board Secretariat. This position will lead the development and maintenance of an operations manual while providing policy advice and guidance on licence improvement initiatives and emerging issues.  Other responsibilities include helping manage Board planning processes, preparing briefing materials, drafting and vetting publications and promotional materials, representing the Board on working groups and meetings, and other initiatives at the request of the Director of the Water Board Secretariat.

  • Considerable experience analyzing and developing policies, briefing materials and publications.
  • Considerable experience planning and providing strategic direction and recommendations to senior management on complicated subjects and issues.
  • Experience working on inter-agency working groups.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Additional information

Job Requirements: occasional travel within the territory may be required. Extended periods of time working at a desk including extended screen time working with computers and other devices.
