Are you after a position that can make a difference to the State’s customer service and support the delivery of projects such as non-urban water meter program, the release and allocation of unallocated water reserved under various water plans and assess and make recommendations under the Water Act 2000 on major project within Southern Queensland?

This is an opportunity for a driven person to step in and to be involved in the management of State water resources in the department’s South Region. Operating from within the Projects and Unallocated Water Releases team in South Region you will provide collaborative leadership and supervision in the delivery of excellent customer service and provide support and assistance to the team on operational and procedural matters.

Key Duties and Accountabilities 

• Provide collaborative leadership and supervision for the processing of water metering submissions received from entitlement holders within South Region • Prioritise and coordinate workflow processes, managing multiple and conflicting deadlines to achieve performance targets in accordance with departmental priorities and objectives.

• Undertake assessments and make recommendations under the Water Act 2000 (Water Act), Water Regulation 2016 (Water Regulation) and other Acts relating to water metering requirements, unallocated water reserves and external client projects 

• Provide written and verbal advice to internal and external customers on matters relating to water metering, and project submissions under the Water Act, Water Regulation and other supporting regulatory policies, guidelines, and procedures 

• Provide project support to the Projects and UAW Releases team including recommending business improvements and undertake other emergent projects as requested by the Manager, Projects, and UAW Releases

• Streamline business processes and implement business improvements through revised policies/work procedures 

• Represent your team through active participation in internal state-wide forums 

• Operate independently and as part of a high functioning team to meet the objectives outlined in the department’s strategic plan and business plans 

• Ability to maintain personal integrity and transparency with others 

• Ability and skills to operate a variety of software packages to ensure quality customer service is delivered and maintained 

• Other duties as directed and required
