The Environmental Law Institute is a non-profit, non-partisan organization, headquartered in Washington, D.C., that seeks to “make law work for people, places, and the planet” through its work as an environmental law educator, convener, publisher, and research engine.

This internship is in environmental event planning and professional education. The Educational Programming Intern will conduct research, assist with planning and facilitating professional programming (conferences (including Western Boot Camp), seminars, webinars), write blog articles, assist with the preparation and day-of coordination of programs, perform some administrative tasks, among other responsibilities. ELI integrates interns into the day-to-day operations of the Institute, and while the main intern for this department, he or she will be part of a larger intern cohort. Lastly, the intern will conduct research on a topic of the intern’s choice and present research towards the end of the internship. This position is for spring 2023.

The most meaningful aspects of this position will come from the educational programming. The intern will be given responsibility in all parts of program development – from researching the initial topics and panelists, to running logistics, to networking with panelists, to helping facilitate programs, to post-program networking, and more.

Compensation is available at $16.10/per hour. ELI will also support candidates in their efforts to secure external funding or course credit for the position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates for the spring internship must be available to work part-time (ideally 20 hours/week) for 8-10 consecutive weeks. Candidates should possess superior research, writing, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as a strong desire to gain knowledge of the environmental field. A strong academic background is required, but specific environmental experience is not. Candidates must have completed their first year of college. Other qualifications include:
• Keen eye for detail
• High organizational capacity
• Ability to handle multiple deadlines
• Event planning
