Open Position: Vice President of Programs 

The Great Lakes Protection Fund is an impact investor for the Great Lakes. The Vice President of Programs leads the Fund’s program team. Their work focuses on investing in innovative people and transformational ideas to restore and protect the Great Lakes ecosystem.

We seek a seasoned professional with demonstrated success building innovative solutions to complex problems. They know how to recruit and motivate project teams, have a passion for the environment, and, ideally, have worked in both the public and private sectors.

This is a high-profile opportunity to collaborate with leaders from philanthropy, impact investing, academia, industry, and the public sector to add new initiatives to the Fund’s innovation portfolio. Today, this portfolio is over $18 million of multi-year commitments to more than 20 groundbreaking projects: launching new approaches to managing stormwater, controlling water contamination, reducing nutrients in agricultural runoff, and preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species. You can see summaries of the current portfolio here. We expect the Vice President will lead an additional $12-14 million investment in new projects over the next three years.

The successful candidate will ideally have twelve to fifteen years of experience leading teams, excellent networking and leadership skills, working knowledge of environmental, governmental, and economic issues, an advanced degree in an interdisciplinary field, such as law or business, and a passion for the Great Lakes.
