Positions at the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board are eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position. Due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, applying electronically is highly encouraged.

This position is entitled to a $250.00 pay differential per month based on Bargaining Unit and/or work location.

The San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board has an opening for two permanent, full-time Engineering Geologist positions in the Groundwater Protection Division.

The positions are located at 1515 Clay Street, Suite 1400, Oakland, CA 94612.

Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to perform the assigned duties of the class.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.

Experience with review and evaluation of environmental reports and preparation of written comments.
Knowledge and experience in site investigations and characterization, site cleanup, risk-based cleanups, effectiveness monitoring, and preparation of reports.
Experience in the assessment and mitigation of vapor intrusion of chemicals from the subsurface to indoor air.
Experience with implementing environmental laws, regulations, and guidance.
Regulatory agency interaction experience.
State of California Professional Geologist license is desired, but not required.
