Our Strategy team in the Urban Water Strategy, Policy and Programs Branch is currently seeking a Senior Water Strategy Officer. The Water Strategy team maintains an understanding of the contemporary trends in urban water management and planning and is relied on to provide sound advice to stakeholders both internal and external to government. As part of this team you will play a key role in the delivery of sustainable water services for the metropolitan areas of NSW. You will support the Manager, Metropolitan Water Strategies in providing advice, analysis and information to support the delivery of urban water strategies for Sydney and the Lower Hunter. Your role will require you to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders from across the water sector and to work collaboratively to drive outcomes for the people of NSW.

About You

As a Senior Water Strategy Officer, Metropolitan Water Strategies, you will use your well-developed research and critical thinking skills to form solutions to the issues facing the urban water sector. You will represent the Department in cross-government working groups and will contribute and manage inputs to key projects. You will critically analyse reports, water servicing plans and frameworks to prepare high-quality advice in various forms to support the executive team and the Minister. You will work in a high volume, collaborative environment where your communication and problem-solving skills will be important.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, water resources planning, economics, environmental science, or similar.
  • Sound experience in undertaking research and analysis, providing advice, drafting communication materials, and working collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Sound knowledge of the processes of government.
  • Sound knowledge of processes for the planning and delivery of water services and water resource management.
