Position Highlights | This position is funded through the Transboundary Aquifer Assessment Program (TAAP): Arizona Water Resources Research Center Effort. Funding is appropriated by the US Congress and received through an award from the US Geological Survey (USGS). This position will work with TAAP PI Sharon B. Megdal, who serves as WRRC Director and Professor Department of Environmental Science, other WRRC TAAP team members, and project collaborators from other universities and agencies in the United States and MexicoThis is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position. Duties & Responsibilities | The incumbent will assist with tasks of the funded project, including but not limited to:Project research, including that focused on investigating the socio-economic dimensions of transboundary aquifers in the U.S. and Mexico and the impact of contrasting modes of governance in shared groundwater resources;Organizing meetings and communicating with partners and stakeholders in the U.S. and Mexico, and responding to inquiries;Preparing journal articles, bulletins, presentations, and reports, including the Santa Cruz Aquifer Binational Report and progress and other reports required by USGS and including GIS representations in all the above as needed;Identifying and assessing opportunities for collaboration with local authorities and researchers conducting projects and activities for groundwater collaboration,Organizing meetings with partners in the US and MexicoKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesBasic knowledge of geographical information system (GIS) |
Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.Experience interacting with government agencies and officials in the U.S. and Mexico.Experience conducting survey research.Fluency in Spanish. |
Preferred Qualifications | MS or Ph.D. in a field connected to water resources.Experience conducting research related to water governance and management in the U.S. and Mexico and groundwater in arid regions.Experience and knowledge with the Transboundary Aquifer Assessment Program.Experience and knowledge with groundwater governance along the border shared by the United States and Mexico. |
