About the Role:
The Scientific Officer works closely with a team of professionals to delivery priority environmental science projects under limited supervision, and contributes to the provision of ecological advice and services to inform environmental decision-making in South Australia.
Key outcomes from the role include:
- Technical and scientific data and information is collected, analysed, evaluated and reported in a transparent and rigorous manner
- Scientific and technical reports on the status of key natural resources are delivered on time, and developed under limited guidance and advice from senior officers
- Organisational and team objectives are achieved through collaboration, communication and the application of professional work practices
- Collaborative relationships with relevant stakeholders and business groups are developed and maintained.
- Environmental Science and Research Partnerships Unit projects (particularly those related to Freshwater, River Murray and Coorong science) receive sound and timely advice, information and outputs.

Contract:
Contract for up to end of June 2024
Essential Qualifications:
A tertiary qualification in environmental science, natural resource management or equivalent is essential
Special Conditions:
- May be required to participate in fire management and associated duties
- A current driver’s licence is essential, along with a willingness to undertake four wheel drive training
- May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel and work outside of the normal hours of work.
Remuneration:
PO2 $85,665 min – $94,801 max p.a.
