Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters department has an project opportunity for a Senior Healthy Waters Specialist (Catchment Coordinator) within the Wai Ora Partnerships team.
Please note: This is a Fixed Term Full Time opportunity, ending mid 2026!
In this role you will be to engage with communities and provide advice, planning, and management for projects related to catchment groups.
As part of this job, you’ll be responsible for building strong relationships with local communities and helping them to have a say in how their area develops. It’s an important role in making sure that the Council is working closely with the people it serves.
Day-to-day you could expect to work on:
- Initiate and co-ordinate catchment groups including logistically supporting meetings, field days and other community events
- Develop and maintain appropriate data management, keeping record of all progress to date
- Prepare and co-ordinate project proposals, project plans and budgets.
- Provide input, as required, into the Freshwater Farm Plan system development for the region
- Projects are effectively managed and delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard

This role requires experience in similar communicative roles, with a sound understanding of freshwater ecosystems, environmental pressures and outcomes.
We will be looking for specific experience with:
- Excellent communication skills
- A sound experience of farming systems
- Three years’ experience in sustainable land management or in the provision of primary sector
- Competent in Microsoft office, particularly Excel
- Ability to influence change within the rural community and agri-industry sectors
- Project management experience
- Excellent standard of written and verbal communication.
- Full & valid NZ drivers’ licence.
