Swea City, IA (KICD)– Kossuth County authorities are investigating after a teenager died after being found inside a hog confinement Monday evening.
The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office and Swea City Ambulance were called to 407 390th Street a little after nine o’clock to a report of a person found unconscious at a hog-site building. Upon arrival, a female identified as 17-year-old Victoria Parra Lerdo of Rockwell City was found lying on the floor of the facility. She was taken to Kossuth Regional Health Center where she died.
The Kossuth County Medical Examiner has been brought in to assist in the investigation with an autopsy planned by the Iowa Medical Examiners Office in Ankeny. Parra Lerdo is said to have been assisting with cleaning and power washing the facility at the time she was found, but additional details are not being released as the investigation continues.
