FIVE FORKS — Business partners Heather Taylor and Morgan Holzman have released new details on their joint venture Bullwinkle's Tavern, a community oriented sports bar that will replace Five Forks Brewing on Woodruff Road southeast of Greenville.

Five Forks Brewing closed Dec. 7 after opening early last year, a decision that was the culmination of non-business issues ownership was dealing with and pandemic-driven challenges, according to former co-owner Kenny Driggers.

Taylor and Holzman are in the process of reconfiguring the space and said they plan to re-open the doors by late February or early March.

The two will not be brewing beer on site, which will open up space for a lounge area and games as well as a longer bar, Taylor said. They also plan to expand from 16 to 20 taps serving local craft beers. Bullwinkle's will also serve liquor and Holzman said they plan to focus on bourbon and tequila, with signature cocktails available.

"That's what the area is demanding," he said. "Bourbon is something that Heather and I both really enjoy and tequila is the up-and-coming, not-just-mixing drink."

The two also plan to add lighting and possibly a stage to the outdoor area to host live musicians, Taylor said.

Screens will be installed inside for watching sports and Holzman said there are plans to use a projector and inflatable screen outside to host watch parties for games and family movie nights.

"Basically we just want to be the local community bar," he said. "We're not looking to be anything other than that."

As far as food goes, Holzman said the menu is still being put together. Taylor said they plan on signature bar dishes like nachos and "upscale sausage offerings."

Both Taylor and Holzman have extensive experience in the service industry but this will be their first time as owners. They live in the area and said they've wanted to open their own place for some time. The space that once housed Five Forks Brewing is the ideal location, they said.

They named the tavern after a 1952 Chevy truck that belonged to Taylor's late father, who passed away last year. Taylor said she is hopeful the business will serve both as a tribute to her dad and as a gathering place for the surrounding community.
