Darlington Raceway, nicknamed The Lady in Black and the track Too Tough To Tame, is home to the award-winning Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR and annually hosts two NASCAR Cup Series race weekends, along with the NASCAR Xfinity Series and/or NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Opening in 1950, Darlington Raceway is “A NASCAR Tradition” and NASCAR’s original superspeedway with its famed 1.366-mile egg-shaped oval, challenging the sport's best in one of the most iconic NASCAR races, the Southern 500®. Rusty Wallace, Hall of Fame NASCAR driver, who raced at Darlington 43 times and never won, was known to say that as soon as a driver started racing his competitors and not the track, he was about to hit the wall. Many, many drivers have carried the famed "Darlington Stripe" on their cars as a testimony to her nature. (For more information about Darlington Raceway, visit darlingtonraceway.com.)
Over the last two years, the Darlington Raceway has teamed up with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) to continue the tradition begun in May 2022 — bicycles on the speedway! Join us as we continue hosting this exciting event for one of the world's most important charities.
Cyclists will complete a lap and three quarters around the speedway prior to exiting the track through the tunnel and riding on their choice of short (+/- 12 miles + track laps), medium (+/- 42 miles + track laps), metric century (+/- 65 miles + track laps) and English century (+/- 105 miles) routes. After completing their selected route, they will return to tow finish laps around the track, food and fellowship. We will even provide a shower unit, courtesy of Southeast Baptist Association for cyclists to freshen up prior to departing.
