Deputies and detectives investigating a home invasion robbery from April 3, 2018

INCIDENT: Home Invasion Robbery
LOCATION: 6300 block of Malachite Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT: Hugo Gonzalez, 49-year-old, Resident of Fontana
SUMMARY:
On April 3, 2018, at 12:23 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to the 6300 block of Malachite Avenue, after an elderly female victim reported an unknown male subject forced entry into her home. The victim told deputies the suspect impersonated a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver and forced his way into her residence when she opened the door.
The suspect bound the victim’s hands with a zip tie and stole items from the victim’s home. The suspect was described to have medium complexion, be a Black or Hispanic male adult, 5’8”, wearing a blue hat, blue long sleeve shirt, and blue denim pants. The suspect fled in a silver Honda Civic, 1997-2000 model, with damage to rear bumper, a black front fender, and a Domino’s Pizza sign on top of the car. The suspect vehicle was captured on a neighbor’s video surveillance camera. The Detective Bureau took over the investigation and gained information the license plate on the suspect vehicle was reported stolen from the city of Fontana.
On April 5, 2018, the Ontario Police Department notified sheriff’s investigators Hugo Gonzalez was arrested after leading their officers in a short vehicle pursuit. The pursued vehicle matched the description of the suspect vehicle involved in the home invasion in Rancho Cucamonga. Gonzalez remains a person of interest in the home invasion and the investigation is ongoing. No further information is available for release at this time.
