Get involved with your national Nursing Now group today

Our Nursing Now groups page is officially up and running!

National groups exist to promote the aims of Nursing Now at a national level, in coordination with the Ministry of Health and existing nursing organisations. Countries are encouraged to tailor their campaigns around a specific set of goals which will improve nursing and empower nurses in that area. Recent additions to the page include groups in Mexico, Brazil and Lesotho.

In addition, nurses in Nigeria have been holding a month-long Twitter Conversation, encouraging nurses and midwives across Nigeria and the rest of Africa to connect around the goals of Nursing Now. You can join the conversation by following Nursing Now in Nigeria on Twitter.

Nursing Now launches in Kenya

We are thrilled that Nursing Now Kenya was launched on 23 August by Kenya's First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta. The event included a procession through Nairobi, an exhibition by nursing students and speeches by Margaret Kenyatta as well as the Cabinet Minister for Health, Sicily Kariuki.

The event was hosted by the Ministry of Health, Nursing Council of Kenya, United Nations Populations Fund and World Health Organisation. Ms Kariuki said the government will support the implementation of the Nursing Now Campaign in Kenya, and told the attendees, “I hope that you will continue to grow professionally and will find satisfaction in touching and healing the lives of the patients.”

New Resources: the Advocacy Toolkit is now live

Here at Nursing Now we believe nurses are powerful advocates because they are at the front line of health services across the world.

We're therefore very excited to share our new Advocacy Toolkit and hope this will be of help to you as you build your campaigns.

We want to empower you to identify changes that would make a positive difference to nursing in your country, and then build a campaign to deliver that change. There is a whole lot of information in the toolkit about how to go about doing this, so please do take a look.

If the toolkit raises any questions, please get in touch here.

Nursing Now at the Global Conference on Primary Health Care

Nursing Now will be hosting an event next month at the Global Conference on Primary Health Care in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The conference will take place on the 25th and 26th October and, in coordination with the International Council of Nurses, Nursing Now will be running an event on the essential contribution of nursing to achieving the goals of primary health care.

This is an important opportunity for Nursing Now to engage with Heads of State and Ministers of Health from across the world to ensure that nurses and midwives are put at the centre of primary health care. For more information, make sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook
