The Connection

One year ago this month, we officially kicked off Project Ensemble, a collaborative effort amongst our founding member colleges of Champlain, Middlebury and St. Michael's to support each institution's longer-term finance and technology strategies.  In less than 40 days, we will go-live with the first of four implementations which will be done in the 30 days following that.  There has been significant involvement from across all three colleges.  Our Advancement teams will have state of the art technology in Blackbaud for their prospecting and development efforts, allowing them to focus on relationship building to drive institutional and student success.  Our Finance teams will implement Oracle in the first phase of a larger enterprise-wide technology solution.  Both Blackbaud and Oracle leverage cloud technology allowing for significant process improvement,  enhanced reporting and analytics, and integrated solutions.

In February and ongoing, many of you will be invited to participate in training sessions at your respective colleges.  We encourage you to participate as much as you can, so that you can fully appreciate and experience this new technology.  Along with training workshops, additional resources will also be provided to you, including reference guides, videos, Fact/Q&A Sheets and additional resources.

Our Human  Resources teams are also actively involved in design sessions for the Oracle HR/HCM solution which will go-live in September.  Much more to come for this area in the spring.

A big thank you to everyone who has been involved in any way during the last year.  Together, we have and will continue to make a difference in the success of our organizations.

Fondly,

Corinna Noelke
GMHEC Executive Director

Finance Update

The month of January brings User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to our Oracle Finance Team.  UAT is a part of the technology solution implementation where actual users have their hands and eyes on the pre-live system.  This provides an opportunity for users to learn, see how the system will work after go-live and to ensure that it performs as we have designed it.

Nicole Corriveau, Middlebury has been involved during the last two weeks of Oracle Finance User Acceptance Testing.  She shared that she has "really enjoyed the collaborative effort with all three colleges in making something better.  Testing has allowed her to see how the pieces of the puzzle are coming together and how it will work in the day to day environment."

Advancement Update

Excitement is building for our Advancement Teams as they plan for go-live!

Colleen Fitzpatrick, Middlebury and Carol Grant, Middlebury share a moment together.  Blackbaud will provide strategic opportunities for our member colleges to advance their institutions.  Jami Black, Project Lead for Blackbaud, recently shared that User Acceptance Testing has gone well, training plans are in place and we are counting down to go-live.

Procurement Update

Knock It Out with PunchOut!

Rocky Balboa knocked out Clubber Lane in the biggest fight of 1982. Thirty-seven years later, GMHEC will be knocking out the streamlined process of purchasing with the PUNCHOUT! What’s PunchOut purchasing you ask? PunchOut is when you go through the Oracle system to place an order, and it channels you out to the supplier page to place your order. When you add items to the cart and go to checkout, you will not see a traditional checkout, but instead “PunchOut Your Order”.  Why would you do this instead of going directly to the website you ask? Well here are some benefits:

No more p-card reconciliation
Automated approval process
Contract pricing at your fingertips

With the PunchOut we are… Rising up to the challenge of our mindful spend!

New Year's Resolutions

New Year’s resolutions….we’ve all set them, but how many of those resolutions have actually taken hold?  We decide that this is going to be the year we get active, lose those last ten pounds, clean out the garage, start saving for retirement, etc.  We get fired up thinking about what we will achieve but by Valentine’s Day, we’ve long forgotten about those resolutions.  Why is it that something that sounds so good and may actually be in our best interest is so quick to fall by the wayside?

Well...it all has to do with habits.
