MEAC Announces Weekly Volleyball Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 25, 2021North Carolina Central senior Ammaarah Williams was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Charlize Williams was named Rookie of the Week and North Carolina Central sophomore Lauren Janok was named Setter of the Week, while Howard junior Tamar Wells earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
 
Williams (6-0, Sr., MB, Cleveland, Ohio) averaged 4.1 kills, 2.4 digs and 1.3 blocks per set for the Eagles this past weekend, accounting for 22 total points and hitting .325 over the course of nine sets. On Friday against Morgan State, she had a career-high 22 kills, 13 digs and four blocks, hitting .413, before turning in a 15-kill, 9-dig, 8-block effort on Sunday against Coppin State.
 
Williams (5-11, Fr., MB, Mesquite, Texas) hit .443 over the weekend for the Hawks, while also totaling six blocks in two matches. On Friday, she had seven kills and four blocks, hitting .636 in a win over Norfolk State, and on Sunday, she added eight kills and two blocks against Howard.
 
Janok (5-11, So., S, Rougemont, N.C.) averaged 9.9 assists and 3.3 digs per set this past weekend, recording a pair of double-doubles. She opened on Friday with a career-high 50 assists and 19 digs against Morgan State, and she added 39 assists and 11 digs on Sunday against Coppin State (to go along with six kills and three blocks).
 
Wells (6-0, Jr., MB, Apopka, Fla.) notched a career-high 10 blocks in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore, including two solo blocks. It was the second-highest single-match block total so far this season in the MEAC. She added 10 kills for a double-double.

Ahzhi Coleman (Coppin State) had six kills each against North Carolina Central and South Carolina State.
 
Miajavon Coleman (Coppin State) racked up 19 kills and 15 digs against North Carolina Central.
 
Ashley Roman (Coppin State) recorded 21 digs against South Carolina State and 18 against North Carolina Central.
 
Ashley Tsvetanova (Coppin State) had 22 assists against South Carolina State and 24 against North Carolina Central.
 
Kayla Diaz (Howard) recorded 29 assists, four digs and a service ace against Maryland Eastern Shore.
 
Bria Woodard (Howard) had 11 kills and three blocks against Maryland Eastern Shore.
 
Mauri Carver (Maryland Eastern Shore) had nine blocks against Howard and three against Norfolk State.
 
Madison Grace (Morgan State) had nine kills against South Carolina State, as well as eight kills and six digs against North Carolina Central.
 
Jadore Hayes (Morgan State) had 24 digs against North Carolina Central.
 
Mackenzie Jefferson (Morgan State) turned in a 48-assist, 9-dig effort against North Carolina Central and a 34-assist, 8-dig match against South Carolina State.
 
Jasmin Perry (Morgan State) had 15 kills on .458 hitting against North Carolina Central.
