April Showers Blog Hop Day 2

We are off to a great start with our hop this month. Yesterday's bloggers filled our heads with inspiration!

April pulled a mean trick on me here, this weekend.

Instead of those lovely rain showers, that bring May flowers we got a dumping of over 6" of snow.

My little tree had just flowered for the first time ever...only to be frozen.
😞

But enough about me...
please visit my fellow bloggers today and see what they have been working on!

 til next time...

It's My Day on the April Showers Blog Hop

Welcome to our April blog hop. This month's challenge is showers...
late snow showers, rain showers, baby showers, wedding showers.
What do you like to shower everyone with?

I love "By Annie" patterns. She designs the cutest and most usable bags on the planet!
(Watching her videos, makes putting them together so easy)
Definitely something you can shower anyone with, for any occasion.

It started with "A Place for Everything" a few years ago, with this bag I made for my traveling sewing supplies.

It's a super cool bag, that I learned a lot by making.

Then...when she updated and improved the pattern with "A Place for Everything 2.0", with new handles, a carrying strap, and new pockets, and I found this awesome "Minne Mouse" fabric, I  knew just what I was going to do!

This is for my little "Sweet Pea".  I've been saving it until she was old enough to enjoy it and next month it's going to her, on her 4th birthday! It will give her lots of room to bring her special toys back and forth to Nana's house.

Next came "Pack It In", that was originally designed as storage bags for your suitcase. But when I found these awesome designs at "Designs by JuJu", I had a different vision.
Instead of mesh fronts, I chose to make solid fronts and put pockets on them. I added mesh pockets on the inside. That's the fun part of the patterns. Everything is interchangeable and adjustable and she shares lots of tips for adapting pattern to each other.

I knew I was going to make all 3 sizes for project bags... and a some of my quilty friends had birthdays!
So, instead of quilting each piece individually, I loaded a few yards of fabric on my longarm with backing and a head liner fabric as a batting and quilted away. It worked like a dream and I was actually able to get more bags than I had expected out of it, with just enough left over, to cut a top and bottom for a "bonus" bag. I found a contrasting fabric for the sides and added a pocket with my favorite saying of all.
"A Fat Quarter is not a Body Part!!!

So, I showered my quilty friends, with bags and
cards that are from "Design by JuJu" as well.

What can I say? You'll be able to pick us out from the crowd at the next quilt retreat!

Now you know my first love is applique...

So when I found this guy, by Googling April Showers Free Clipart...
I could hardly wait to bring him to life.

Be it that sweet bear face, or these mice, which would have me running and screaming
if they were on me, but...

...they screamed "April Showers" to me!
So there you have it...my very (long wind-ed) April Showers.

Please visit my fellow blogger today and see what was "Raining on their Parade" this showery month!

1 Week till Aprils Blog Hop

Well, so far there have been no showers this month, where I live, but my spring flowers are making their beautiful appearance.

My daughter-in-law, gave me these beautiful tulips for Easter. Strangely enough, they are actually that beautiful purple color, just like the paper wrapped around the pot, but they look pink in the photograph?????
Needless to say they are gorgeous and the bulbs will go out in my yard, once they have finished blooming, so we can enjoy them every year.

We are just 1 week away from the "April Showers" blog hop and my fellow bloggers are putting the finishing touches on their projects, to share with us all.

Here is the schedule.

Monday April 22

Have a great week, and we will see you soon!

April - Bona Lisa's Sweater Emporium BOM

April 1st and we are no fools here today!
We are all about the sweets.

This is "Trick or Treat" every good witches delight!
You can download this pattern free this month only
HERE
Then be a good witch and share your trick or treat blocks on our Facebook group page!
I'm waiting. HEHEHEHEHE
You do hear my witchy-ness don't you?

How does our Bona Lisa's Sweater Emporium BOM work?
It runs from January 1st through August 31st.
All block releases happen on the first day of each month. They can be conveniently found on our Cackling Stitches Facebook page HERE.
They will be pinned under the "Featured" tab to make them easy to locate.

On the first day of each month, we release a block pattern (sometimes it's more than one)
that is free for the entire calendar month. After that, those blocks go into our individual
ETSY shops where you can purchase them for $2 each.
If you just can't wait, the entire pattern can be purchased in my ETSY shop for $15.

We hope you appreciate the time we put into creating this BOM and understand that we keep
the costs to a minimum for you. We ask that you respect our copyrights and do not share the
pattern with others. You're welcome to direct your friends to our Cackling Stitches Group
Facebook or any of our ETSY shops so they can get their own patterns.

January Blocks
"Bona Lisa" by MooseStashQuilting

"In Vest" by "Creatin' in the Sticks"

"Repulsive Ruffled Sweater by "Just Let Me Quilt"
February Blocks
"Ye Ole Homestead" by "MooseStashQuilting"

"Bona's Kickin' it up Boots" by "Just Let Me Quilt"
March Block
"Take no Bull" by "Creatin in the Sticks"

You can choose to make the entire quilt, or just a wall hanging, the choice is yours! Either way, you will be able to collect many different "Sweaters" throughout the BOM, for your sweet skeleton.  If you are making your sweaters like paper doll clothes, just fuse the sweaters onto a piece of felt. If you have ever wanted to become a designer, give it a try and design and share a sweater with us. We can't wait to see what you dream up.

Wishing You a Happy Easter

With Easter rapidly approaching, I put together this sweet little
 36"x39" quiltie, last week.

This is "Easter Delivery" by Angie Padilla.
The top left block will be me after eating all the chocolate bunnies I can get my hands on tomorrow.

I am still having a love affair with my embroidery machine and found the cutest designs at

If you are a machine embroiderer, you better shake your bunny tail and hop on over to her website and take advantage of her anniversary sale. There are only a few days left.

Everything but her "in the hoop" and  "edge to edge" designs are included.
Yesssss... I may have shopped more than once and found way more than 12 things I just had to have.
LOL!!

This little guy is one of her, not on sale "in the hoop" designs.
Is he just the cutest? He even comes with 3 options of things he can hold.

Greeting cards are my jam...and I love hers, that are stitched on cardstock.
I like to applique them on a fabric mini quilt.

Wishing you all, a very blessed Easter!

 til next time...
