Barbara Mahler is a performing artist, movement educator, body worker,- for 40 years. She has traveled internationally and nationally, teaching, performing,- doing hands on work, -. Her main teaching groundwork is KleinTechnique and bodywork modality is ZeroBalancing, both intense studies beginning in the late 70’s, early 80’s., and her knowledge and learning of the Bartenieff work came through her studies with Susan Klein. Barbara/ I, began her studies of KleinTechnique at the uptown studio in 1977- Colette Barry/Susan Klein, and, continued her studies and early teachings, becoming the main teacher at the Susan Klein School of Dance 1982-2003. She was the first certified teacher. Her studies of Zero Balancing began in 1983, was certified as a Faculty in 1989. Her travels began in the late 80’s, and became solo in the mid 90’s and onwards to Canada, England, Scandinavia, Iceland, Taipei, Mexico, Ireland, Israel, Chile, – Berlin, others.

Her teaching work has evolved to accommodate world changes- the pandemic most recently- cultivating an online teaching skill. As the mix of dancer/mover/person continually changes, workshop and classes have adjusted, while maintaining the clarity and integrity of the work I teach, so as to address and reach to the people directly in front of me….finding middle “C”, the best balance possible. As I have aged – a non-negative, my dancing, my performing, have also evolved, and has my external vision of what is evolving with and in others. Life has created a need for flexibility. I have of course performed in NYC, -and worked with Movement Research since 2005. I graduated from Hunter College 1977, learning dance and all associated aspects under the tutelage of Professor Dorothy Vislocky. My MFA was received from UWM/Milwaukee, 2008. I/she have been the recipient of numerous creative residencies – Wilson College PA;, Ohio State-first annual dance festival, NDA; Danse Alliensen in Gothenburg Sweden;,Brooklyn Studio for Dance; Movement Research, others. During the pandemic, I have been grateful and honored to teach via Zoom w Cuerpos Intelligence, IDA, London; Tanzfabrilk, Berlin; HORSE Dance Company, Taipei; and Movement Research. Love moving!
