Donning a blazer and a blue shirt that read “Montana Abides”, actor Jeff Bridges spoke before a full ballroom at Montana State University to campaign for Senator Jon Tester.

The actor began by disclaiming that he can't vote in Montana since he is registered in California, but nonetheless he emphasized his strong ties to the state.

Bridges says he met his wife in Montana, where they've owned a ranch for over 40 years.

They've supported Tester for 12 years now and Bridges said he respects the senator’s "tough but not insulting" style.

"I love Montana, I want to keep it as beautiful as it is. I support Jon and where he stands on education, the way he helps the vets, and where he stands on health. He's just a great representative for Montana I don't think we can do any better," he said.

Bridges took questions that had been pre-submitted by students. He touched on everything from his acting career to the individual will within the greater scheme of politics.

"Montana is the fourth largest state in the union and it only has a million people -- every vote counts. Jon Tester won the last election here by only 3,000 votes so voting is very important," he said.

The event was organized by the College Democrats of Montana.
