Sen. Jon Tester continues to make the rounds around Montana.

On Thursday he was at Montana State University for a roundtable discussion with Cecile Richards, the former head of Planned Parenthood, where they discussed health care.

Richards and Tester stressed the importance of retaining the Affordable Care Act, which they say keeps insurance affordable and accessible to all.

They were greeted with applause at MSU's Procrastinator Theater. Richards said the ACA was the first time women didn't have to pay more for health care than men.

They said it's critical American families not fall into medical bankruptcy because of a lack of insurance.

"The key is we want to make health care more affordable, and it's going to be done by working together in a bipartisan way, moving the ball along,” said Tester.

“It's not going to be done with junk health insurance plans; it's not going to be done with kicking people out of their policies with pre-existing conditions," he added.

Tester says health care is 23 percent of the economy, and if the Affordable Care Act is repealed rural towns in Montana are at risk for their hospitals closing, potentially leading to an exodus of residents.
