Getting Re-Authorized

If your store is already approved to accept SNAP and you received a letter from FNS telling you that your store is due for re-authorization, you can complete an application online.

Accepting SNAP

  • All authorized SNAP stores must use Electronic Benefit Transaction (EBT) equipment and transaction services. This enables a SNAP shopper to pay for eligible food.
  • The SNAP online purchasing pilot allows retailers to accept SNAP benefits through online transactions. Stores that meet SNAP eligibility criteria but have questions or need assistance with taking SNAP payment online can get assistance with SEMTAC.

Preventing Fraud and Abuse

  • As a SNAP retailer, you are responsible for your actions and the actions of everyone who works in your store, whether they are paid or not. Review the training materials and helpful resources.
  • By complying with program rules, retailers help ensure benefits are used to meet SNAP household’s food needs. Find out about program penalties for not following the rules.
