Thoughts about transportation in Aurora?

We need to hear from you!

This month, the city of Aurora is gathering information from anyone who drives, walks, bikes, takes transit or rolls through Aurora to find out what challenges you face related to transportation and what you care about related to mobility in this city. The feedback will help establish the framework for Connecting Aurora, the city’s first-ever citywide multimodal transportation master plan that will establish future projects to better connect people to places in Aurora.

There are several ways to provide feedback this month:
1. Attend an open house (show up anytime from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library, 9898 E. Colfax Ave., or Tuesday, April 23, at Tallyn’s Reach Library, 23911 E. Arapahoe Road) (free food truck meal, first come, first served) (Spanish interpretation provided)
2. Explore the online open house and give input (https://zurl.co/7W2T)
3. Take our community survey (https://zurl.co/bNtT)
4. Add a pin to the map (https://zurl.co/YQX0)
5. Share one word (https://zurl.co/E4Fw)
6. Ask a question (https://zurl.co/vAbP)

The project team is committed to reaching out to diverse voices in this effort and gathering meaningful feedback to make sure the plan reflects the community’s priorities. If you have a question, please call 720.984.2109 or email ConnectingAuroraCO@gmail.com.

Please be alert in the project area for the I-70 Picadilly interchange.

Trucks will be exiting off eastbound I-70 and directly into a temporary work zone, west of Colfax Avenue (Exit 288). Slowing to below 45 m.p.h. near the railroad bridge east of the Tower Road interchange, they will then exit onto the shoulder to enter the work area. Traffic should be cautious of the slowing and exiting trucks, and never follow them into the work zone.

Notification signage was posted in the project area prior to the closure starting. Additional notification through other channels was delayed due to an internal miscommunication. We apologize for the inconvenience. Follow the signed detour route, which uses the I-70 frontage road/Colfax and Stephen Hogan Parkway/Sixth Parkway between Picadilly and Powhaton roads. Plan for delays.

Talk about true dedication: An Aurora teacher has been leading classrooms for 50 years, 40 of them at Cherry Creek's Arrowhead Elementary School. A lot has changed in that time but not her passion. Wait until you meet her! Also on this week's show: We learn more about Aurora's interim police chief, Heather Morris; we stop by Gina's Kitchen, which is a gluten-free and vegan bakery and bistro; we introduce you to the ambassador bull snake at Aurora's Morrison Nature Center and see all she has to teach us about her species; and we hear from some young Aurora musicians who perform in studio. Watch the show trailer at https://www.facebook.com/auroragov/video... and the full show at https://www.auroratv.org/video/aurora-no....
