MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Police have provided an update on a body that was found at a home on West Main Road in Middletown.

According to police, they are investigating the death of 39-year-old John Edward Corbett, which they’ve deemed “suspicious.”

Officers responded to the home around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday for a well-being check after family and friends said Corbett had not been seen or heard from in days.

The cause and manner of his death have not yet been released.

Friends of Corbett said he was a talented photographer and came from a well-respected family with roots in Newport. They also called him a “great friend” and said they are devastated by the loss.

Police returned to the home on Wednesday as they continue to investigate.

A 12 News crew on scene has seen investigators go in and out of a garage and shed on the property, which is still surrounded by crime scene tape.
