NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island DUI Task Force say they arrested 59 impaired drivers throughout the state during their week-long campaign.

Their campaign ran from March 10 through March 18 and they also issued 433 speeding citations.

“These are just the 59 people that were arrested this does not mean there were only 59 people on the road driving impaired,” North Kingstown Police Lieutenant Don Barrington said.

The task force includes members from state and local police in the state in addition to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation.

“RI Law Enforcement efforts will continue working together throughout the year, to keep our roadways safe,” the release continued.
