Volunteer Opportunities at the Dock Street School (2021-2022)

The Dock Street School needs parents and guardians to help the PTA in a variety of ways. Simply signup for one or more opportunities below. Any amount of time you can contribute will add immeasurably to the school's and student's success. With your help we can offer more programs and create unique learning opportunities for all our students. We want them to have a great experience at The Dock Street School and to prepare them for High School and beyond. Thank you for your interest and consideration.

Dumbo Drop Committee: The Dumbo Drop is a Dock Street Fundraiser in partnership with the Dumbo Business Improvement District and P.S 307. Every year we hold a block party on Dumbo's most photographed block. It is a taste of Dumbo with lots of fun activities. We raise money through the sale of toy elephants which we later parachute off the bridge onto Washington Street.

The Dock Street School Auction Committee: A new Dock Street tradition which starts with a week long silent auction and ends with a live auction (Tasks include: Soliciting sponsorships, soliciting item donations, creating promotional materials, picking up items from donors, creating and editing the auction website, writing communications to donors and to the Dock Street Community)

Solicit sponsorships from Parents, Friends of Dock Street, and Businesses.

Promotional materials: Flyers, promotional video/photos, social media posts.

Fundraising Committee - Along with the Dumbo Drop and The Dock Street Auction, the Fundraising Committee will plan smaller fundraising events throughout the year as well as apply for grants and research partnerships and other opportunities to help reach various school goals.

Creative Writing and Marketing - Do you write powerful persuasive prose?

Photographer - Do you like taking pictures? We are looking for a photographer with a camera able to take high quality and resolution pictures for the school website, social media and paper publications purposes. You must be able to upload pictures on to Google Cloud.

Film Maker - Do you have experience in shooting and editing HD videos?

Cultural Events Committee - We need help planning cultural events to celebrate the school's diverse student body. ( Hispanic Heritage, Diwali, Lunar New Year, Black History month, Ramadan, and more).
