The ‘last used book store on the Upper West Side’ to shut its doors

They’re closing the book.

A shop dubbed “the last used book store on the Upper West Side” that was recently featured in a Woody Allen flick is folding after 35 years, the store announced Monday.

“Store closing SALE! Everything Must Go! Everything 30% off. Starts tomorrow, Jan 15th,” a message posted to the Westsider Books Facebook page reads.

The Broadway tome seller played the part of M. Schwartz & Sons Rare and Used Books in the 2013 comedy “Fading Gigolo” featuring Woody Allen, John Turturro, Sharon Stone and Sofia Vergara.

Owners said they couldn’t keep the store open amid slumping sales.

“We just can’t make it anymore,” Dorian Thornley, 50, who started working at the shop in 1995 and became a co-owner in 2002, said with a sigh. “It’s the end of an era.”

Ironically, the store will try to liquidate its stock in part by selling leftover books on Amazon, he said.

“It’s sad,” said patron Tom Parker, 69. “The stock is amazing and you can find some incredible deals.”

Thornley said the shop will likely shutter for good in February.
