Quicky add colour with loose watercolouring

Quickly add colour with loose watercolouring! (Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Fashion Monger Dahlia Outline Stamp Set Release Blog Hop + Giveaway)

Altenew Paint-a-flowers are beautiful designs that are great to colour in with your paints, pencils or pens, and can create stunning no-line pieces. However, even if you’re not an advanced colourist, you can still create with the Altenew Paint-a-flowers and today I’m showing you how to quickly add colour with loose watercolouring.

This card features the new Altenew Paint-a-flower: Fashion Monger Dahlia stamp set which is a beautiful trio of florals in a bunch that can take centre stage on a card. I use them with a mini-slimline size card and it turned out beautifully. But don’t forget, you can try this technique out with any stamp set in you stash, so let’s get crafting!

You should have arrived here from the fantastic Norine Borys You can always start at the beginning of the hop over at the Altenew Card Blog here.

Make sure you check out the end of the post for more details on the hop, along with your next stop!

written tutorial

Quicky add colour with loose watercolouring

Start of by stamping the Altenew Paint-a-flower: Fashion Monger Dahlia stamp set in black dye ink onto watercolour cardstock. As we will be working with water we need to ensure the ink we use doesn’t bleed so do not use a water-based ink like pigment ink unless you heat emboss it.

Quickly dry the ink with your heat gun and next add clear clean water over the stamp design. Using the Altenew Essential watercolours, start dropping colour into the clear water. Go in a rainbow order around the design, allowing the colours to blend with one another.

Try not to allow too many of the colours to mix in the middle as this will turn brown. However, we will add sentiment over the top, so you don’t need to worry too much. Heat emboss a sentiment from the stamp set onto black card in white embossing powder

Trim the sentiment down and foam mount onto the front of the card to finish the card off.
