WANT TO SPEND. AMANDA: HOUSE REPUBLICANS SAY AN ADDITIONAL 2.5% OF THE STATE’S BUDGET SHOULD GO TOWARDS IOWA’S PUBLICCH SOOLS. THAT ADDS UP TO $155 MILLION AND EQUALS 5 MORE DOLLARS PER STUDENT. HOUSE REPUICBLANS ALSO DROPPED A SEPARATE BILL AS PART OF AN OVERALL PACKAGE THAT INCLUDES ROUGHLY $19 MILLION. THAT’S ONE TIME MONEY THEY SAY SHOULD GO TOWAS RDSUPPORTING STAFF DEALING WITH INFLATION-RELATED COSTS. HOUSE SPEAKER PAT GRASSLEY SAID TODAY THERE’S ALREADY A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF MONEY GOING TO PUBLIC EDUCATION. Iowa House Republicans unveiled their plan for school funding Thursday. They say an additional 2.5% of the state's budget should go towards Iowa's public schools.House Speaker Pat Grassley said today there's already a significant amount of money going to public education. However. he said that House Republicans want a sustainable increase."Being around 50% of the budget — that's I mean — that's a significant contribution, and we're funding, we're putting more money to K-12 education than it's ever happened in this state," Grassley said.There are currently three other school funding plans moving through the statehouse.
