2023 FOSSIL DAY ART CONTEST COMPLETE CONTEST RULES
- Open to all current students in Clark County, Nevada, kindergarten through 12 - grade.
- Submission deadline is Friday, September 22nd, 2023, by 4:00 p.m.
- Designs (hereinafter “designs” or “submissions”) may be submitted by individual students only and only entry allowed per student.
- To be eligible for prizes the parent(s) or guardian(s) must accept the request to publish their student’s artwork on the Artsonia website. https://www.artsonia.com/
- Entries must be original, previously unpublished work, conceptualized and created by the student, and suitable for use in social media posts and for printing on items available in the Artsonia Store.
- Designs must not violate U.S. copyright law and may not feature or focus on any material owned or controlled by third parties. This includes images pulled off the internet, third party copyrighted, or trademarked material. For example, do not use any copyrighted images and do not use brands/logos.
- Designs must not be, or contain any content that is or may be perceived as, violent, immoral, defamatory, derogatory, offensive, illegal, obscene, dangerous, unsafe, or similarly inappropriate, or represent Protectors of Tule Springs (Protectors), Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument, Ice Age Fossils State Park, or any school in a negative way.
- By entering this contest, each entrant and the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of each entrant irrevocably assigns and transfers to Protectors any and all right, title, and interest to the design (and all material embodied therein), including, without limitation, all copyrights and rights of publicity, and Protectors shall be the perpetual and exclusive owner of design. Participants may utilize their design for personal, educational or other non-commercial purposes, such as incorporation of their design into their own art portfolio.
- Protectors, the Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival, Las Vegas Natural History Museum, Clark County School District (CCSD), Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument, and/or Ice Age Fossils State Park may use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, reformat, translate, create compilations and collective works, prepare derivative works, print, record, publish, display, broadcast, transmit, upload, re-post, or otherwise utilize in any manner the original or altered versions of the design or likeness at any time in the future along with the entrant’s name and school, in any and all media or distribution mode now or hereafter known, including without limitation by means of the Internet, other digital networks, and social media, at any time or times, throughout the world, without the need for any further consent and without any compensation.

- Design content will be reviewed and approved prior to acceptance. In Protectors’ sole discretion, an entrant may not be eligible for recognition or to receive a prize if the submission cannot be sufficiently cleared for legal purposes.
- A committee of judges established by the Protectors of Tule Springs will review all entries and will select winners. Protectors of Tule Springs will notify teachers of the finalists by September 29th, 2023.
- Prizes will be awarded to the winners and their teachers. Winners will be announced at the Fossil Day celebration on Saturday, October 7th, 2023, at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum. Participation prizes will be given to all students who submitted artwork to the contest and are present for the awards. Students and their families can begin arriving at 9:45 am and the ceremony will start at 10:30 am.
