COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Ballots are being mailed out to voters on Monday for the 2024 Primary Election.

11 News spoke with the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder, who reports over 450,000 presidential primary ballots are expected to be mailed out for Election Day on March 5. The clerk and recorder reports some candidates who have suspended their campaigns in recent weeks may still be on the ballot.

“There’s a lot of controversy circling around the primary right now, so I think that alone is getting people motivated and things like that as far as participating in this process,” said Steve Schleiker, El Paso County Clerk and Recorder. “I think we’re going to see a record turnout for our November election, which is great. Everybody should vote and have a voice.”

Voters will get a list of presidential candidates for their registered party. If you are unaffiliated, you will get two ballots of both parties, but can only vote with one. If you vote both ballots, neither will count. Click here to see the sample ballot.

February 26 is the last day citizens may register to vote or update their voter record at www.GoVoteColorado.gov and have a ballot mailed to them. After February 26, citizens must register to vote or update their voter record and receive their ballot at a Voter Service and Polling Center (VSPC). They may do both through Election Day March 5.

February 26 is also the recommended last day to return your ballot by mail. If you don’t receive a ballot by about February 22, you’re asked to contact the clerk and recorder’s office.
