The Bureau of Investigations is responsible for:

  • Investigating employee fatality and serious injury cases
  • Preparing and referring cases to local and state prosecutors for criminal prosecution

District attorneys can prosecute employers under Labor Code section 6423 or 6425 for knowingly, negligently, or willfully violating an occupational safety or health standard. Criminal sanctions can include monetary fines and imprisonment in a county jail or state prison.

RISK ANALYST – GENERALIST

$84,564.81 – $118,402.36 Annually, plus Benefits

POSITION:
Under supervision of the responsible Risk Management Analyst this Risk Analyst will be assigned to multiple divisions including the Liability and Insurance, and Risk Control divisions. This position will serve as the subject matter expert and liaison to county agencies, assist with workplace safety and accident investigations, participate in the safety call meetings, and provide training as needed. Individual county agencies and departments have safety representatives who work in conjunction with Risk Control. Critical to the success of this position is knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA compliance including ever-changing laws and regulations, and continuous education in the field of safety. This position collaborates with other risk management divisions and county agencies to deliver superior service in a fast-paced environment.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will have generalist Risk Management experience in liability claims, safety, and loss prevention with the ability to handle minor liability claims, analyze safety trending data, assist in advising regarding safety and loss prevention matters, and can work with multiple people in the agencies.

This position will assist in the implementation of the overall County-wide Safety program and handle a small caseload of liability claims.

The desired candidate will be knowledgeable regarding Cal/OSHA compliance, safety, and training, and have experience handling liability claims.   The candidate must be able to lead a group and provide training which requires the ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written manner, individually and in a group setting. Prior public entity experience is a plus.

Highly Qualified Safety Manager

  • 5-7 years of professional safety experience is required.  Two years professional safety experience in the construction industry with an emphasis in concrete formwork, general engineering, paving, concrete placement, reinforcing steel or public works is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Cal/OSHA construction and general industry regulations is required.
  • Management or supervisory experience or a senior staff position is desired.

Safety Program Analyst

The City of Corona has an exciting opportunity to join our Human Resources Department as a Safety Program Analyst.  The mission of the Safety Division is to collaborate with City departments to ensure compliance and prevent injuries to employees.

The Safety Program Analyst under general direction, performs complex and varied technical, and analytical tasks in the development, implementation, and administration of the City’s occupational health and safety programs.  Furthermore, this position conducts a variety of technical and analytical safety and health activities which include safety compliance audits and accident and complaint investigations.

Safety Manager

$111,054 – $166,580 Annually

The City of Anaheim is seeking a highly-qualified, customer service focused candidate for the position of Safety Manager, within the Human Resources Department,  to supervise and coordinate the activities and operations of the City’s environmental, occupational and industrial health and safety programs,  and  facilities’ environmental compliance programs designed to ensure regulatory compliance, and to prevent occupational injury and illness, and damage to property.

The Safety Manager should have the capability lead – not only departmental safety coordinators, but also the Executive Safety Advisory Council, which is comprised of the City Manager, Department Heads, and the Risk Manager.  They should also be able to identify, recognize, and communicate occupational safety concerns and provide actionable recommendations to staff and executives on safety issues and priorities.   Deep knowledge of safety-related best practices is critical. Previous work experience in a fast-paced public sector organization would be ideal.

The Safety Manager must be a flexible and responsive self-starter and comfortable working independently and collaboratively.  They should be able to balance the needs of competing operational issues, how those issues intersect, and be comfortable identifying and setting priorities, and giving direction as to best practices, solutions, and regulatory responses.   Strong analytical skills and data management, presentation, statistical analysis and interpretation, use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and the ability to interpret claims data, create reports, and meaningfully identify and communicate trends, concerns and issues are crucial to the success of the Safety Manager position.
