Two Sinovac shots not enough for omicron, but 3rd shows effect

SHANGHAI/HONG KONG -- Sinovac Biotech says that a third shot of its COVID-19 vaccine is 94% effective against the omicron variant, defending its jab after a study suggested the regular two-shot regimen provides inadequate protection.

The statement obtained by Nikkei Asia followed research from the University of Hong Kong that raised alarm this week in the dozens of countries that have received Sinovac's CoronaVac shot.
